Lobio with Tushenka

Hearty red beans with meat and Georgian spices

Ingredients

  • 1 jar Gold Tushenka beef (500g)
  • 400g canned red kidney beans
  • 1 onion
  • 30g walnuts
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tsp khmeli-suneli spice mix
  • Bunch of fresh cilantro
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Finely chop onion and sauté for 3 minutes. Add Gold Tushenka beef.
  2. Rinse beans and add to the meat. Simmer on medium heat for 15 minutes.
  3. Crush walnuts and add with khmeli-suneli and garlic.
  4. Mash some beans with a fork for thickness. Cook 10 more minutes.
  5. Add cilantro, season with salt and pepper, and serve hot.
Tips

For thicker lobio, mash about a third of the beans before adding. Serve in a clay pot with mchadi cornbread. Tastes even better reheated the next day.
